Located in the town of Aguas Calientes close to the train station. 30 minutes by shuttle bus from Machu Picchu, and 4 hours by train from Cusco. Situated on the road to Machu Picchu, shuttle busses pass infront of the hotel.

The Sumaq hotel offers guests a choice of Superior Rooms and Suites, all come as standard with hypo-allergenic pillows, alpaca wool fibre blankets, cotton sheets, sheep wool comforters and high quality mattresses. Suites include fire places and Jacuzzi’s with hydro therapy and chromo therapy settings.

Our Thoughts!
The Sumaq hotel is one of only a handful of very good hotels in Aguas Calientes. Although classed as a 5 star hotel, in the western world we suspect that this is a very good 4 star hotel. Standard rooms are comfortable, well decorated and adequate in size, whilst the Junior Suites and Sumaq Suites are much larger and perhaps more suitable for a hotel of this stature. A highlight of the Sumaq Hotel is the Qunuq Restaurant, serving Andean gourmet fusion cuisine, prepared by some of Peru’s best chefs. The owner of the hotel previously worked for the Inkaterra Group of Hotels, so is well adverse to high standards, and knows what it takes to run a great hotel. Prices are high, but we think are probably justified.
