Overview of Hotel
Location
The Hatun Inn Hotel is located in between the lower train tracks and the Vilcanota River. From the train station the hotel is 3-4 minutes on foot, and about the same time to walk to the main shuttle bus stop for Machu Picchu.
Our Thoughts!
The Hatun Inn is a 3 Star Superior (in our classification), and offers 14 rooms across 4 floors. All rooms are the same class: of which there are 12 Twin Rooms and 2 Matrimonial Rooms with Kind Bed. All rooms come with a ready to light fire place, ample sized marble bathrooms (with Jacuzzi) and complementary wifi. Access to the upper floors is made easy with a lift. Breakfast is served from 5 – 9 am, but the hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant or a bar. Meals can be bought to the hotel from Toto’s House Restaurant a few doors down (part of the same chain) and can even be requested as room service.
The Hatun Inn kind of says what it does in the tin. Rooms are rustic and ample with comfortable beds and the marble bathrooms with Jacuzzi and fire places are a nice touch. River facing rooms may suffer from excessive river noise from December – May, and town facing rooms suffer from noise of the train tracks and views of the ramshackle town of Aguas Calientes. A night’s stay at the Hatun Inn is expensive for what you get, and we are not sure it is really worth the money, especially as there is no hotel restaurant or bar. You probably wouldn’t feel disappointed with the quality of the accommodations and hotel, just a little bit robbed for the over the top price you have paid.
