Located on the edge of Aguas Caleintes in a whopping 21 hectares (52 acres) of beautiful cloud forest, the Inkaterra Machu Picchu Hotel is one of the leading luxury hotels near Machu Picchu. The hotel, a member of Relais & Châteaux, offers 85 casitas categorized as: Superior. Superior Deluxe, Junior Suite, Suite and Suite Inkaterra. All accommodations come with 100 pct cotton sheets, hypoallergenic pillows, colonial style wardrobe, Andean slippers crafted from recycled materials, plus a complete set of environmentally friendly toiletries. Common areas of the hotel include a cozy lounge area with comfy sofas, library and open fireplace, and a large 75 seat restaurant and separate bar. The Uni Spa offers a complete range of massages and treatments, and the eucalyptus lined garden sauna complete with mountain water fed dip pool is available for private sessions for up to 4 people. Daily tours led by an onsite naturalist guide are offered free-of-charge within the price of a nights stay and include: a bird walk, an orchid walk, a nature walk, a tea harvest experience and a mystic forest walk.

Located in the town of Aguas Calientes close to the train station. 40 minutes by shuttle bus from Machu Picchu, and 4 hours by train from Cusco.

Our Thoughts!

Simply the best option for a luxury stay near Machu Picchu. We love its lush jungle gardens, the onsite nature walks included within the price, but most of all we really love the rustic Andean rooms that just radiate comfort. Prices are high, but if you can afford it go for the more ample Junior Suite. If you really want to splash out go for the Inkaterra Suite – it is simply sublime. Our only complaint about this hotel is the dodgy wifi signal.
